Dressed in an 1812-era Unites State Army uniform (4th Infantry), Bob Coch of Brownstown Township raises a Kentucky flag Monday morning during a ceremony at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park. Monday's ceremony commemorated the U.S. declaration of war on Great Britain exactly 200 years ago. Less than a year after signing the declaration the U.S. suffered a defeat at Frenchtown (currently Monroe), know as the Battle of the River Raisin. Kentucky volunteers helped defend Frenchtown during that battle.
